Odes to dance
with Chilton Galimo
Odes to dance is a project of three dance solo’s in which Jade collaborated with Chilton Galimo, Monique Beers and Rodney Kasandikromo. In this residency each dancer worked with Jade for three days. Sharing their personal experience and perspective on how dance is part of their life. Each person brought in their own stories, music, curiosity and inspiration. In dialogue with Jade they translated this process into a 10 min solo performance. The solos were presented as a dance route, each ode taking place in another room where the audience was invited to walk from one dance journey into the another one.
a praise to dance
what does dance mean to you?
This project is connected to the overarchring research Cracking the Shell of Dance;
an ongoing investigation into the origins of the motivation to dance. As dance speaks from the body and our sensory experiences, the possible meanings are always moving and growing. As a maker Jade dives into this question by creating various seasonal projects where she invites people to join her, with the aim to celebrate the joy and impact of dance by bringing people together.
